I created NYLA Influencers because I spent years working on the brand side of the biz and saw creators being undervalued for their work and earning less than they deserved. I HAVE SEEN THE FINANCIAL BENEFIT OF HAVING BRIANA AS A MANAGER.
Several years ago, I had a job working on the brand side of the biz. For a while, I thought I was living the dream, but when I really sat down and thought about it - I wasn’t truly happy. The career and the direction my life was going just wasn’t doing it for me. I needed more. I needed something that lit a fire within me.
So what did I do? A little soul searching and a whole lot of thinking ... I spent time with myself trying to figure out exactly what I wanted out of life and that’s where the shift happened.
All I can remember thinking to myself was “This is it. I’ve made it.”
Then one day out of the blue, my world was turned upside down and I lost my job.
I was devastated. I began thinking … Who’s to say I can’t just do this on my own?
I asked my friends, family, and colleagues for advice. Everyone around me was telling me the same, exact thing - "It's too risky to be an entrepreneur" or “You need to find a traditional, full-time job.”
Well guess what? They couldn’t have been more wrong!
At that time, I had nothing to lose and a leap of faith was just what I needed!
After all, it was BEYOND time that I put myself first and work towards MY dream.
So I started my biz!
